Q-Gate reduces reject rate to 0%

Efficient quality checks close to the logistics interface ensure delivery quality and avoid reworking

A man in work overalls measures a black plastic part at a workstation with a caliper.

Initial situation

An Eastern European manufacturer from the aviation industry recorded an increased reject rate for delivered components. The quality problems led to reworking, delivery delays and an increasing risk of complaints from the end customer. In order to safeguard the material flow and improve quality at the interface to final assembly, the establishment of an external control point was considered.

The challenge

The aim was to reduce the reject rate to 0% and at the same time ensure delivery reliability. As the components were transported across national borders, the quality inspection had to take place as close as possible to the logistical handover. Efficient inspection, clear error documentation and rapid feedback to the supplying plant were crucial in order to avoid quality problems in the long term.

Solution

Zettl set up a Q-Gate in Weng, close to the border with Eastern Europe. A specialized team inspected all components according to defined specifications and reworked parts were returned directly. Thanks to structured processes and close communication with the plant, the reject rate was reduced to 0% within a very short time and error transparency was significantly improved.

Result

The Q-Gate in Weng ensured delivery quality and reduced the producer's reject rate to 0% within a very short time. The combination of clearly defined inspection processes, fast data feedback and efficient reworking prevented further quality problems and stabilized the series delivery. Thanks to the strategically favourable location of the Weng site, the material flow was optimized and quality assurance was designed to be permanently economical.

Conclusion

Scrap rate reduced to 0

Efficient testing processes ensure stable series delivery

Location advantage in Weng optimized material flow to Eastern Europe
